Kentucky target Braylon Lane is embracing the Governor's Cup rivalry

To say this has been an interesting offseason for the Governor’s Cup rivalry would be putting it lightly. Multiple players and staff members have crossed rivalry lines. Some have followed long-time Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow to Louisville. Others have followed former Louisville quarterback, graduate assistant, and quality control assistant Will Stein to Kentucky. That will make November’s meeting much more interesting. One thing we do know is that this rivalry never stops. That is currently playing out on the recruiting trail.

New Kentucky wide receivers coach Joe Price III visited three-star wide receiver Braylon Lane on Friday. During that stop, the duo took a photo to publish on social media. The Houston (Texas) C.E. King rising junior decided to jump into the rivalry by throwing Ls down.

Braylon Lane also released his top eight schools on Friday with Kentucky making the cut along with Arizona State, Houston, Kansas, Mississippi State, TCU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. UK is now making a push thanks to Lane’s connection to Price. The Wildcats were expected to be active in Texas recruiting with this new coaching staff. Price has deep ties to Houston. That is playing out now as UK builds a 2027 recruiting board.

The Kentucky-Louisville rivalry truly never sleeps. Braylon Lane joined in on the fun over the weekend. Will the Lonestar State wideout become a part of the rivalry when his recruitment is over? Only time will tell.
