Ashton Hagans signs contract with Portland Trailblazers
There was a time when Kentucky basketball fans revered Ashton Hagans. He averaged 11.5 points, 6.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game during the season which would eventually end in the cancellation of the NCAA tournament. Hagans made a name for himself as the team’s defensive stopper, a constant pest set out to riddle the opposing team’s point guard and make every dribble way more difficult than it should be, and he did a fine good job of it.
He departed Kentucky on less-than-great terms but did so to pursue his NBA dreams. Aside from a cup of coffee with the Minnesota Timberwolves, those dreams have been primarily relegated to the G League.
However, Chris Haynes announced on Friday that the Portland Trailblazers signed the former Kentucky point guard to an Exhibit 10 contract.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary contract and gives NBA teams the ability to convert the contract into a Two-Way deal, but only if they do it before the start of the regular season.

Under this deal, the team can waive the player at any time but Hagans would earn a bonus of between $5,000 to $50,000 if he stayed with the team’s G-League affiliate for 60 days.
Hagans averaged 6.8 points and 4.5 assists for the Greensboro Swarm last season and will look to improve on those numbers with the Trail Blazers’ brand-new G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix this season.
Best of luck to Hagans as he continues to keep striving to fulfill those NBA dreams.
