Antwan Smith, 3-Star Linebacker, Commits to Kentucky

Kentucky is kicking off the summer with a commitment. Following a star-studded official visit weekend in Lexington, Antwan Smith announced he will be a Wildcat.

A 6-foot-3 athlete from Atlanta, Antwan Smith chose Kentucky over Vanderbilt, NC State and Duke, among others. His older half brother, Deon Jackson, was a running back for the Blue Devils from 2017-20. They aren’t the only athletes in the family. His mother was a track and field star at Miami, and his father played basketball at Utah State.

A three-star prospect from Atlanta’s Westlake High School, Antwan Smith is ranked as an EDGE by On3, but he’s likely to play off-ball linebacker in the middle of the Kentucky defense. Anwar Stewart and Mike Stoops performed the heavy lifting in Smith’s recruitment for the Wildcats.

He is the fourth addition to the Wildcats’ 2024 recruiting class. He joins three homegrown stars: Cutter Boley, Hayes Johnson and Aba Selm.

An exceptional athlete, Antwan Smith is not afraid of a little contact in the trenches. Also a track and field star, he has posted a time of 10.65 in the 100-meter dash. That speed should translate well if he moves off the ball to linebacker for the Kentucky Wildcats. Take a closer look at the Wildcats’ latest addition, the first of many this summer in Lexington.
