Kansas State loses commitment from Texas DB Brandon Ford
Kansas State has seen its recruiting class drop from 17 commits to 16. Crowley, Texas, defensive back Brandon Ford has decommitted.
Ford was the first commit of the 2026 class for the Wildcats. He beat the next commitment by almost six months.
But, it is tricky to hold on to recruits who commit so early, like Ford did. They are flip candidates from the jump. Especially when schools like Oklahoma State and SMU stay engaged in the recruiting process.
Some, including the Wildcats, may have thought that things were going to settle down after Ford reaffirmed his commitment on June 1st after an official visit to K-State. He tweeted he was “shutting down” his recruitment.
Ford had the fourth-highest industry ranking of the current Kansas State recruiting class.
UPDATE: Shortly after decommitting, Ford announced his flip to Oklahoma State.

Kansas State Recruiting Class
As mentioned, the Cats now hold 16 commitments. Their highest-rated recruit is Tucker Ashford, who committed on July 4th. The edge rusher is a Rivals four-star and one of six Texans in the current recruiting class.
Positionally, K-State goes from two corners in the current class to just one. Garrick Dixon from O’Fallon, Missouri.
Kansas State’s current recruiting rank is just 60th in the country, after landing at 37th in the 2025 class.
