Kansas State adds Hutch CC WR Derrick Salley
Kansas State is back on the board in the 2026 recruiting class. Hutch Community College wide receiver Derrick Salley has announced his commitment to K-State.
It is actually the second announcement of the day from the community college wideout. Earlier tonight, he announced his de-commitment from Minnesota. Around an hour later, he announced his commitment to Kansas State.
The Wildcats were a staple throughout the last month of Salley’s recruitment. K-State offered the South Carolina native November 3 while in Manhattan for an unofficial visit. A week after his unofficial visit, he took an official visit to Minnesota where he committed to the Golden Gophers. However, Kansas State did not give up and stayed in constant communication with Salley and ended up helping them win his recruitment.
K-State is no stranger to adding junior college players. In fact, every season under Chris Klieman the Wildcats have added at least one junior college player. The 2025 recruiting class saw Kansas State add both wide receiver JD Davis and defensive tackle Patrick Tackie from the junior college ranks. It is likely K-State will add another junior college player in the 2026 class before Signing Day next week based on historical trends.

Salley has had a very productive season thus far at Hutch Community College. The sophomore has totaled 41 catches for 726 yards and 12 touchdowns. Impressively, the wideout has three games this season with three receiving touchdowns. Hutch CC takes on Northwest Mississippi CC this weekend.
In total, the wide receiver is commitment No. 19 for Kansas State in the 2026 recruiting class. Salley is the third commitment this month for K-State joining high school defensive tackles Adrian Bekibele and Carnell Jackson. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, he is currently ranked the No. 22 player at the junior college level and No. 6 wide receiver.
