Hawkeyes add kicker Marshall Meeder from the transfer portal
The Iowa Hawkeyes have added some much-needed depth at place kicker with the arrival of Central Michigan transfer Marshall Meeder. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Meeder, an engineering major, is beginning classes at the University of Iowa this week and will join the Hawkeye football program as a walk-on this year.
Marshall Meeder Profile
An Eaton Rapids, Michigan native, Meeder joined the Central Michigan football program as a preferred walk-on in the Class of 2020.
He hit the ground running as a true freshman, earning first-team All-MAC honors after making 8/8 field goal attempts and 16/17 PATs during the 2020 season.
In 2021, Meeder connected on 17/26 field goal attempts and 49/51 PATs, and then made 5/11 field goals in 2022.
Over his three-year career at Central Michigan, Meeder made 30/45 field goal attempts with a long of 53 yards. He entered the transfer portal in May of 2023 with two years of eligibility remaining.

Iowa Impact
For Iowa, Meeder immediately moves into the two deeps behind returning starter Drew Stevens.
With Aaron Blom currently out amidst the NCAA gambling investigation and likely facing a lengthy suspension, the Hawkeyes were left without a backup in preseason camp.
Walk-on wide receiver Alec Wick, who kicked in high school and played soccer, was left to possibly fill in if there was an emergency, but has also missed some time in camp due to injury.
Now, enter Meeder, who gives the Hawkeyes a legitimate option at place kicker should anything happen to Stevens.
