Jermari Harris back for one more season
The Iowa defensive backfield got a significant boost today when Jermari Harris announced that he would be returning to the Hawkeye football team for one more season.
Harris, who started 12 of Iowa’s 14 games, was named the Comeback Player of the Year by the football program and he was one of six juniors who were named to the leadership council.
He was credited with 42 tackles, including 1 for loss this season. He had 1 interception in 2023 and broke up 9 passes. According to Pro Football Focus, Harris played 831 snaps this season, earning an overall grade of 71.4, including a 71.7 grade in coverage and 65.0 in tackling.

The Chicago native missed the previous season due to injury, but in 2021, he started six games and played in 13. That year, he had 34 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 8 passes deflected.
Now Hawkeye fans will wait to see what decision comes from All American cornerback Cooper DeJean and if he will opt for the NFL or return for his senior season and pair up with Harris at cornerback for Phil Parker’s defense.
