Indiana guard Jason Drake to enter the transfer portal
Indiana basketball junior guard Jason Drake is entering the transfer portal, sources told TheHoosier.com. Dushawn London of 247Sports was first to report.
Drake, who missed the entire season with a lower body injury, spent one season with Indiana basketball being a part of the first transfer class under head coach Darian DeVries. He was the 7th transfer portal commit for DeVries at the time.
There was an expectation that Drake was going to return to the floor for the Hoosiers at some point in the season, but that never came to be. Not only did he miss Indiana’s entire season, he also did not participate in Indiana’s preseason trip to Puerto Rico with it being now close to year since he has actually played in a meaningful basketball.
Drake committed to Indiana basketball in April of 2025 after spending the first three years of his collegiate career at three different schools, including one year at a JUCO program. He committed to Indiana coming off of one season with Drexel.
In the 2024-25 season, Drake started all 33 games at Drexel, averaging 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He shot 42.8% from the field and 39.6% from 3-point range on 3.1 attempts per contest.

He scored in double figures 17 times, including in nine of his final 12 games. Drake also made multiple 3-pointers in 11 games during the 2024-25 season. His best performance came in a conference win over William & Mary, where he scored 25 points and drilled three of his six 3-point attempts.
Before his time at Drexel, Drake played at Cleveland State and Butler Community College (JUCO), spending one season at each.
As a freshman at Cleveland State, he averaged 1.6 points in 5.6 minutes per game. In 2023-24, he averaged 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists at Butler Community College.
He is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining.
With this news, Drake becomes the first to enter the transfer portal for the Hoosiers.
