Georgia announces signing of 4-star EDGE Chase Linton

North Atlanta EDGE Chase Linton will continue his football career with the home-state team. After committing to Georgia last month, Linton has been announced by the program as a signee. Linton is the latest prospect to ink with the Bulldogs on National Signing Day as they continue to drive toward a second No. 1 class in as many cycles.

There aren’t many prospects in this class who saw their stock rise more from the summer before their senior season to the time they signed. He committed to Rutgers in early June but a whole host of schools came calling, including Georgia, a few months later.

LSU, Alabama, and Florida State all threw hats into the ring in September. He visited the Crimson Tide unofficially and took official visits to both LSU and Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets and Scarlett Knights made strong late pushes for Linton, but UGA was the team to beat from the time it offered.

When Linton joined the class, he gave the Bulldogs three EDGE commitments. He joined an already touted group that includes the nation’s No. 1 EDGE, Isaiah Gibson (Warner Robins; Warner Robins, Ga.). Four-star EDGE Darren Ikinnagbon (Hillside; Hillside, N.J.) was also in the fold and he’s the nation’s No. 7 player at his position.

At 6-foot-4 215 pounds, Linton is the nation’s No. 109 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, weighted average of all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s also the nation’s No. 10 EDGE and the No. 14 player in Georgia.

Scouting report from Linton’s head coach…

“(What makes him unique) is just his explosion and his first step, the way he gets off the ball, and then, his motor after that. He’s definitely second to none that I’ve coached as far as just really being kind of an unblockable guy,” North Atlanta head coach Jamie Aull told DawgsHQ after Linton committed. “People have planned around him all year, and he still finds a way to make plays for us. He’s definitely a special talent as far as how big he is and then how explosive and twitchy he is of an athlete.”
