FSU TE Landen Thomas plans to enter transfer portal
Another one of Florida State’s marquee signings from the 2024 recruiting class is entering the transfer portal.
Tight end Landen Thomas, who was at one point considered the top prospect at his position and signed with FSU over Georgia and others, is leaving the Seminoles after two years, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Sunday evening.
Thomas got off to a strong start to his Florida State career with 14 catches for 173 yards and one touchdown in 2024, but he saw his playing time decrease in 2025 and caught just three passes for 35 yards; he did catch a pair of touchdown passes.
According to Pro Football Focus, Thomas played 281 snaps as a true freshman but only 114 this past season. He is the second FSU tight end reportedly planning to enter the portal, joining starter Randy Pittman.
Quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, who was Florida State’s highest-rated recruit in the ’24 class, transferred out after his first year in Tallahassee. Earlier this month, highly touted classmates Cai Bates and Kam Davis also decided to enter the portal.

That’s now four of the top six signees from that class who have moved on. And of the 23 total high school signees in 2024, 11 have either departed or made plans to enter the portal.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2 this cycle, and it will remain open for 15 days.
