Former FSU golf star Brooks Koepka set to make return to PGA Tour
Florida State fans will see a familiar face back on the PGA Tour on Thursday when FSU alum Brooks Koepka becomes the first player to return to the tour after leaving for LIV Golf four years ago.
Keopka was at Florida State from 2009 to 2012. During his time in Tallahassee, he was the ACC Freshmen of the Year in 2009, made the ACC All-Conference team three times, was conference Co-Player of the Year once, as well as Player of the Year on his own as well in 2012.
After winning four PGA Major championships from 2017 to 2019, Koepka was inducted into the Florida State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. He quickly won another US Open in 2023 to get to five Majors.
In 2022, the Florida State alum left the PGA Tour for the new Saudi-backed LIV, and he now becomes the first player to fully return after giving up his PGA Tour membership. He will make his first start back at the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday at 12:32 pm ET on ESPN.

Florida State golf coach Trey Jones has remained close with the five-time Major champion since his time at Florida State. Koepka has also remained close to the program, even playing with current FSU golfer Tyler Weaver in U.S. Open practice rounds this past summer.
“While we did our best to watch Brooks the last few years, I think all Seminoles have missed seeing him compete. I know what his goals are, and I think you see him very motivated,” Jones told Warchant. “Brooks loves to compete and understands what it takes to be prepared. I know he has been frustrated with his preparation, especially early in the year.”
Koepka isn’t the only Seminole in the field this week; Hank Lebioda and Luke Clanton will also be competing this event. Lebioda will tee off at 12:54 and Clanton at 2:11.
