Florida State picked up its third OL transfer in two days Wednesday as former Troy Bowling has committed to the Seminoles.

He confirmed his decision to Warchant.

EARLIER STORY

Former Troy center Paul Bowling, who visited Georgia Tech this past weekend, checked out Florida State on Monday night and Tuesday as he continues his transfer portal recruitment.

Bowling came away very impressed by the Seminoles and said this would be his last campus visit.

“It was good. It was a great visit, and I appreciate [head coach Mike] Norvell and Florida State for having me out here today,” the Troy transfer said.

Bowling primarily played center at Troy, but he can play guard as well. The Florida State coaches told him he could line up at either position with the Seminoles, but with FSU signing former Purdue center Bradyn Joiner earlier Tuesday, it seems likely Bowling will play guard.

A big part of Tuesday’s visit was getting a feel for Florida State offensive line coach Herb Hand.

“I learned a lot about Coach Hand, how he runs things, how he operates, stuff like that,” Bowling said.

After wrapping up the Florida State visit, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman said he would think about his college choices during the car ride home and make his decision. Bowling said he expected to make an announcement by Thursday at the latest.

He also provided a rundown on what he is looking for in his next school.

“Development, coaching, where I can see myself fitting in at,” Bowling said. “Just going with my gut, doing what makes sense. … Just another group of guys that I could see myself out there playing with. That’s the one thing that’s major out there with me. And winning, of course. I always want to win.”

Bowling has three years of eligibility remaining after starting all 12 games as a freshman — nine at center and three at guard.

According to Pro Football Focus, Bowling graded out at 68.3 for pass-blocking and 64.5 for run-blocking.

North Carolina, Kansas State and other schools have also offered Bowling during his transfer portal recruitment process. If he commits to Florida State, he would join recent OL transfer pledges Nate Pabst from Bowling Green and Joiner from Purdue.
