Florida Gators wide receiver TJ Abrams is returning to school for his redshirt sophomore season. He has signed a new NIL deal to remain in Gainesville under new head coach Jon Sumrall. His return will give the first-year Gators’ head coach an offensive weapon, who showed off his abilities this past season, but still has a ton of upside in the years ahead of him.

TJ Abrams made the best of his rise in snaps last season

After appearing in 5 games during his freshman season in 2024, Florida wide receiver TJ Abrams saw his usage rise in the 2025 season. Injuries in the wide receiver room this past season opened the door for Abrams to earn more playing time, but he appeared in 10 games with 1 start. The young pass catcher finished his redshirt freshman season with 14 catches for 202 yards, but he’s yet to catch a touchdown in his college career in Gainesville.

As a recruit, TJ Abrams was the No. 362 overall prospect, No. 55 wide receiver, and No. 46-ranked player in the state of Florida. That is according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted algorithm that compiles all major recruiting media services. He arrived at UF after playing high school football for Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar.

Abrams flipped to the Florida Gators from Florida State and was one of two wide receivers the Orange and Blue signed in that cycle. While TJ Abrams plans to return to UF for the 2026 season, fellow class of 2024 wide receiver signee Tank Hawkins announced this week that he will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal when it opens on Jan. 2.
