Former Florida Gators placekicker Trey Smack had an East-West Shrine Bowl to remember. In Tuesday night’s game in Frisco, Texas, he a 57-yard field goal to give Team West a 12-8 lead over Team East in the opening half.

After the game, Chad Reuter of NFL.com named him one of the “eight prospects who stood out.”

Wrote Reuter: “Kickers don’t often get noticed during all-star games, but Smack deserves attention. He connected on a 57-yard field goal with great rotation and elevation at the end of the first half. Smack also squared up against nifty returner Michael Wortham on a second-half kickoff, bringing him down in the open field.”

Two other Gators were in the game (punter Tommy Doman and receiver J. Michael Sturdivant) and one of them also got some praise. Josh Carner of Steelers Depot noted that Doman “boomed punts.”

Smack capped a terrific Florida Gators career in 2025. He made 53 of 64 kicks as a Gator, including 18 of 22 last season with a long of 56 yards. He was five of six on kicks of 50 or more yards in his final year in Gainesville. All told, Smack nailed 10 field goals of 50 or longer in college — the most in school history.

He was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which goes to the best kicker in college football, in both 2023 and 2025. Meanwhile, Smack was third-team All-SEC in 2025.
