Gators commit picked for Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game

Another Florida Gators football commitment has been chosen to play in this year’s Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. First, it was 3-star tight end Micah Jones of Madison Central (Miss.). Now, it’s 3-star linebacker Myles Johnson of Brewton (Ala.) T.R. Miller.

Alabama announced its roster Wednesday; Mississippi released its team a few weeks ago.

Johnson, listed at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, is a former Alabama commit who committed to the Gators in July. He missed all of the 2023 season with a leg injury but now is 100 percent healthy and having a strong season. Johnson has more than 650 rushing yards for the year and is one of his team’s leading tacklers. T.R. Miller is unbeaten.

Johnson is the No. 64 linebacker in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings.

The 38th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game is Dec. 14 in Mobile, Ala. Each roster has 41 players.

Johnson visited Florida last weekend and watched the Gators beat Kentucky 48-20. He thinks Florida has made significant progress since a Week-1 loss to Miami.

“I just think they’re better jelled — they don’t have as many mental mistakes as they have had,” Johnson said. “And they’re just flying around. They’ve always flown around. But they’re playing more together now.”

It is unclear if Johnson will visit any other schools, but he said Saturday night he is locked in with the Gators.

“I still feel good about it,” Johnson said. “These wins make me feel a lot better about it. Just staying in touch with the coaches and how they are and it just makes me feel much better.”
