Nugent is the Gators’ first commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.
Nugent recently competed in the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl on Jan. 10 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The event featured more than 100 of the top high school football players in the 2026 and 2027 classes. That week, Nugent told On3’s Sam Spiegelman that Florida, Florida State and Miami are leading the charge for him. Spiegelman noted Nugent was trending toward playing his college football inside the Sunshine State.
In that same interview Nugent talked up Sumrall and Co.
“I’m excited for that staff and I know they’re gonna do great things,” he said. “I’m excited to see them this year.”
Per MaxPreps, Amare Nugent recorded 27 tackles and two interceptions last season.
