Gators DL Justus Boone to enter transfer portal
Another Florida Gators player has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos, it’s defensive lineman Justus Boone.
The 6-foot-4, 266-pound redshirt junior appeared in the team’s first 11 games this season but didn’t make a big impact. He checks in with season totals of 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles for a loss, 0.5 sacks and one pass breakup. Other players have passed him up on the depth chart in recent weeks as well.
During his four seasons in Gainesville, Boone recorded 37 career tackles and two sacks.
Last season was supposed to be Justus Boone‘s breakout year for the Florida Gators. But it wasn’t to be. In fact, he never played a down after sustaining a torn ACL in training camp.
“Honestly, probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Just from being a player that’s never really experienced no big-time injuries that slowed me down to the point that I can’t play, it’s just very challenging,” Boone recalled over the summer during Florida’s media day.

“I’m a very physical guy and I like to actually be a part of something, not just very verbal. I like to actually be able to do it. So it was challenging not being able to be my complete self.”
Now, the former blue-chip prospect will look to regain his footing at another college.
Coming out of Sumter (S.C.) High, Boone was a 4-star prospect and the No. 183 prospect in the 2021 class. He was also the18th-ranked EDGE and the No. 2-ranked senior in the state of South Carolina.
