Gators DB Jamroc Grimsley to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Florida cornerback Jamroc Grimsley plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, Gators Online is told.
Grimsley finishes his Florida career with limited game action but valuable experience in the program. He recorded one solo tackle and one pass deflection during his time in Gainesville while working his way through a competitive cornerback room.
In the 2025 season, Grimsley appeared in three games and logged 27 total snaps. He made his season debut against Long Island and later saw action against No. 9 Texas. Grimsley earned his first career start against Mississippi State, lining up at cornerback. In that game, he recorded his first collegiate tackle.
During the 2024 season, Grimsley made his collegiate debut at Texas. He played in two games at defensive back and preserved a redshirt year as he continued to develop.
Grimsley’s path to Florida included a notable recruiting journey. He originally signed with Alabama out of high school before being released from his letter of intent after Nick Saban retired. He later signed with Florida, his childhood favorite school, and joined the Gators with the hope of building his career in Gainesville. Injuries, however, were an issue throughout the past several years.

A graduate of Tampa (Fla.) Catholic, Jamroc Grimsley was known for his length and speed coming out of high school. While he did not see extended playing time at Florida, his SEC experience could make him an attractive option.
With multiple seasons of eligibility remaining, Grimsley will now look for a fresh opportunity where he can compete for a larger role. His departure also opens another scholarship spot for Florida as the Gators continue to evaluate and reshape their secondary moving forward.
