Despite the NCAA Transfer Portal being closed for new entrants, there are still plenty of names already in the portal available for college coaches to add. The Florida Gators did just that, adding another comitment from the transfer rankings. The latest addition came from East Carolina defensive back transfer Jordy Lowery. The native of Bartow (Fla.) was a junior this past season for the Pirates. That gives him one year left to play for the Florida Gators following his transfer.

Florida continues to add depth to the secondary

The addition of Jordy Lowery gives the Florida Gators a total of four transfer additions to the secondary this offseason. Lowery spent one season at East Carolina after he transferred from Western Carolina. During the 2025 season, Lowery appeared in 12 games and registered 27 tackles (2 TFL), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and deflected 4 passes. Furthermore, Lowery was named to the Second-Team Preseason All-AAC list by Phil Steele Magazine and the third-Team Preseason All-AAC list by Athlon Sports.

In his three seasons at Western Carolina, Lowery accounted for 51 tackles (2.5 TFL), six interceptions, 8 deflected passes. He scooped a blocked field goal during his time at Western Carolina and returned it 55 yards for a score. In the 2024 season, Lowery’s 92-yard interception return for a score was the second-longest in program history. It was also the fifth-longest in the FCS that season.
