Jon Sumrall will have some heavy hitters at his first Florida Gators coaches clinic as UF coach, including men who have won the Super Bowl and national championships. The clinic, which is March 27 in Gainesville, will bring coaches in from across the country to UF learn more about the sport and listen to guest speakers.

This year’s speakers will include Sumrall, along with these big-name coaches:

Jon Gruden: Gruden was a longtime NFL coach who won a Super Bowl ås head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs during the 2002 season. Overall, he was 117–112 in the NFL.

Urban Meyer: A recent inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame, Meyer won two national championship as Florida’s coach and another with Ohio State. He went 187–32 as a college head coach, including 65-15 at UF with an SEC mark of 36-12.

Liam Coen: Coen just completed his first season as head coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and went 13–4. Coen and Sumrall were both on the staff at Kentucky in 2021.

College coaches clinics are development events at which coaches from various levels learn new strategies, techniques and philosophies. Many have classroom-style sessions, along with on-field demonstrations. They’re also big networking events.

Per Google, they often include the following:

“Leadership and Culture Building: Seminars on managing team dynamics, player development, and fostering a positive team culture.

X’s and O’s Sessions: Experts provide in-depth, chalk-talk presentations on specific plays, schemes, and positional techniques.

On-Field Demonstrations: Coaches often watch demonstrations of drills and techniques to implement with their own teams.

Networking: Opportunities to connect with peers, industry experts, and potential employers.”
