SIGNED: Hampton transfer LB Michael Matthews-Canty signs with Auburn

Hampton transfer linebacker Michael Matthews-Canty has signed with Auburn, AuburnSports has learned.

Matthews-Canty, who has two years of eligibility, signed with the Tigers on Thursday. He is the first transfer linebacker to sign with Auburn this portal season.

Matthews-Canty spent two seasons at Hampton. He played in five games as a true freshman and 12 as a sophomore. He totaled 102 tackles at Hampton. As a sophomore in 2025, he had 78 tackles, including 39 solos, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Matthews-Canty is from Fredericksburg, Va. and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds.
