Auburn receiver Landen King to take redshirt
Second-year Auburn receiver Landen King has opted to sit out the remainder of the 2022 season and take a redshirt, he told Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson on Tuesday night.
King, a true sophomore from Atascocita (Texas), had one catch for 24 yards this season. All told, he has six receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown at Auburn.
King has no plans to enter the transfer portal at this time.
In fact, he told Hokanson he loves Auburn — and loves his teammates.
Why take a redshirt?
King told Auburn Live the lack of substantial playing time this season was part of the reason for him making this decision, but also said he is having some health issues without going into specifics. Those issues, though, have caused him to lose a little weight and have limited his ability.

Basically, he just doesn’t feel as though he’s 100 percent at the moment.
King, a one-time Texas commit, came to Auburn in 2021 as a 3-star tight end. But he turned heads early and had a solid freshman season. With the Tigers being fairly well-stocked at tight end, he moved to receiver this spring.
His lone reception this season was a spectacular grab that came in Auburn’s 41-12 loss to Penn State on Sept. 17.
