Auburn makes Jacob Bronowski new special teams coordinator
Jacob Bronowski will be Auburn’s new special teams coordinator, sources confirm to AuburnSports. Bronowski comes to the Tigers from Pitt. Bronowski previously coached with new head coach Alex Golesh at Tennessee.
He will replace Chad Lunsford, who moved on from Auburn to accept the same role at Arkansas.
Bronowski’s impact at Pitt last season was immediate, helping PK Ben Sauls produce one of the best seasons ever by a Panthers specialist. Sauls earned multiple All-America honors, became a Lou Groza Award semifinalist, led the team in scoring and later signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tight end Gavin Bartholomew also flourished under Bronowski’s guidance, posting career highs, earning All-ACC recognition and landing invitations to both the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.

Before Pitt, Bronowski spent two strong seasons at Miami (OH), where his special teams units ranked among the best in the country. The RedHawks won the 2023 MAC Championship in a 23–14 victory over Toledo, finished with elite national rankings in special teams efficiency and produced major award winners. Kicker Graham Nicholson won the Lou Groza Award and became a consensus All-American, while punter Alec Bevelhimer was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist. Bronowski’s work earned national recognition, including a spot on the 247Sports All-Assistant Team and selection to the AFCA “35 Under 35” Coaches Leadership Institute.
Bronowski’s earlier stops included Tennessee, UCF, Robert Morris and his alma mater New Mexico, where he began his coaching career. Across those roles, he consistently elevated special teams performance, coaching award winners, NFL prospects and units that ranked among the nation’s best in punt return defense, net punting, and kickoff coverage. His development of future NFL specialists like Jason Sanders, Corey Bojorquez and others helped build a track record that has followed him throughout his career.
