Deontae Lawson wins 2025 Alabama Media 'Good Guy' Award
Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson is the 2025 Media Good Guy Award recipient.
Media members who cover the Crimson Tide football program on an everyday basis voted, and the fifth-year senior received the most first-place votes (12). The Media Good Guy Award is given to the Alabama football player who 1.) regularly makes himself available for interviews, 2.) does so with a positive attitude, and 3.) gives thoughtful answers to reporters’ questions.
First-place votes get three points, second-place votes get two, and third-place votes get one.

Lawson, a two-time team captain and Alabama’s leading tackler entering the College Football Playoff, is the seventh Media Good Guy Award winner but the first since the 2019 season. The Mobile, Alabama, native has played in and started all 13 games for the Tide and leads the defense with 75 tackles. Lawson has also tallied three tackles for loss, three pass breakups and one forced fumble in his final season. He recently earned his Master’s degree from UA.
