Alabama analyst lands DL coach job at Power Four program, per report

Alabama analyst Jamey Mosley has landed his first assistant coaching position.

Stanford is expected to hire Mosley, a long-time defensive analyst for the Crimson Tide, as its new defensive line coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. While Mosley worked closely with Alabama’s defensive line and Freddie Roach, this will be his first on-field coaching job.

Mosley spent five years at Alabama as a player from 2014-18. The younger brother of Crimson Tide All-American CJ Mosley, the Theodore, Alabama, native initially walked on at Alabama, but he earned a scholarship as a redshirt sophomore before the 2016 season kicked off. He played in 31 games over his final three seasons, including all 26 contests from 2017-18.

An outside linebacker for the Tide, Mosley was a part of two national title-winning teams in 2015 and 2017. He finished his college career with 20 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Mosley went undrafted in 2019 but spent time with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals as a member of their offseason and/or practice squads. That was his only season in the NFL.

Mosley returned to his alma mater and worked with the defensive line as an analyst. When the NCAA changed its rules, Mosley was able to coach on the field, helping Roach with Alabama’s defensive linemen. He also helped in UA’s transition from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer.
