Thursday, May 7th (Quarterfinals)
- Game 1: No. 5 Kansas 6, No. 4 UCF 5 (UCF Eliminated)
The Jayhawks are into the semifinals after a 6-5 opening round victory over UCF. Kansas scored in each of the last five frames to overcome an early 4-0 deficit. Ava Wallace hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to bring Kansas to within one. Then, Campbell Bagshaw hit a seeing-eye single in what would be the winning run. Chloe Barber shut the door for the Jayhawks, earning the win with two innings of shutout softball,
Coming into the day, Kansas had to feel pretty good about an at-large berth, and this win should solidify that. With an RPI of 40 and securing their fifth Quad 1 (RPI Top 25) win as well as their 11th Quad 2 (RPI Top 50) of the year. UCF was in a solid spot coming into the game with an RPI of 22 and a Strength of Schedule of 20. This loss should not affect them too much and should keep them as a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
- Game 2: No. 1 Texas Tech 7, No. 8 Baylor 0 (Baylor Eliminated)
Texas Tech got off to a dominant start to the postseason with a 7-0 win over Baylor. Mia Williams hit a pair of solo home runs, and Jackie Lis hit a three-run home run to break the game open for the Red Raiders. NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry combined to throw a one-hitter as Texas Tech looks to repeat as Big 12 Tournament Champions.
The Red Raiders continue into what will likely be the most talked-about seeded team in the NCAA Tournament. At 51-5, Texas Tech is certainly one of the top eight teams in the country, according to what you see on the field. But their metrics suggest a possible lower seed. For Baylor, they will await their fate on Selection Sunday as a team that is squarely on the bubble. The Bears will sit back and cheer for little to no bid stealers.
- Game 3: No. 2 Oklahoma State 7, No. 7 Utah 0 (Utah Eliminated)
Ruby Meylan continued her dominance in the circle with a one-hit shutout over Utah. The Cowgirls will advance to tomorrow’s semifinals. Meylan walked three and struck out three over seven innings of work and did not relinquish a hit until the 7th frame. The majority of the damage on offense came from the bat of Amanda Hasler and Karlie Godwin. Hasler had a three-run triple that broke the game open in the fifth inning. Godwin hit her 10th homer of the year to provide insurance in the 6th inning.
The Cowgirls are firmly in a hosting position with an RPI of 15 and four of the best top 10 wins in the country over Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Texas. Their progress over the remainder of the weekend will go towards improving that seed line. The Utes’ season will close with a 35-20-1 record, but they did see a 22-win jump over last year and continue to move in a positive direction.
- Game 4: No. 6 Arizona State 2, No. 3 Arizona 1 (Arizona Eliminated)
Brooklyn Ulrich broke a 1-1 tie in the 7th, and the Sun Devils advanced to a date with Oklahoma State in the Semifinals with a 2-1 win over Arizona. Kenzie Brown was masterful in the circle for Arizona State with the complete game three-hitter. She struck out seven batters and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the final inning of the game.

Both teams are safely in the NCAA Tournament field. After being in position to be a top 16 seed a few weeks ago, Arizona has struggled down the stretch. The Wildcats will be on the road as a two seed next week. For the Sun Devils, they will also be on the road. However, the question remains as to whether they will be a two or a three seed. Currently sitting at 24 in the RPI and securing their 14th top 25 win may have the Sun Devils trending towards that two seed.
Friday, May 8th (Semifinals)
- Game 5: (1) Texas Tech 14, (5) Kansas 0 F/5 (Kansas Eliminated)
The Red Raiders looked every part of the best team in the conference with a dominant win over Kansas, 14-0. Texas Tech slugged four home runs in the game. Those were highlighted by a pair of three-run blasts from Jasmyn Burns and Taylor Pannell. Kaitlyn Terry went the distance, allowing just two hits and striking out nine Jawhawk batters. Additionally, she went 2-3 at the plate, raising her average to .477 on the season.
Texas Tech appears to be one win away from a likely top-eight seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, the current RPI of 14 could raise some concerns. But, with a win, they would add another top 25 win to the resume. For the Jayhawks, they should still be in the tournament as a likely three seed. Kansas could end up traveling to Norman or Lincoln in former Big 12 venues.
- Game 6: (6) Arizona State 11, (2) Oklahoma State 6 (Oklahoma State Eliminated)
The Sun Devils had two huge innings en route to a run-rule victory over Oklahoma State to send Arizona State to the Big 12 Tournament Championship Game. Arizona State smashed four homers, including a pair of three-run bombs from Tanya Windle and Brooklyn Ulrich in the impressive win. A late rally was thwarted by Aissa Silva to allow the Sun Devils to advance. Additionally, Arizona State was able to save Kenzie Brown, which is not something that they had the luxury of a year ago against the Red Raiders.
Arizona State strengthened its resume with its 15th top-50 win of the season and its sixth top-25 win. The current RPI of 23 also figures to get a little bump, making the Sun Devils a likely, pretty high two-seed in the NCAA Tournament. For Oklahoma State, the loss isn’t particularly impactful for their postseason. Coming in with an RPI of 13 and those four impressive top 10 wins, the Cowgirls will be back at home for Regionals, likely in the 12-14 range.
