West Virginia lands commitment from 2027 RB Lee Prince Jr.
West Virginia has added another explosive playmaker to its future recruiting classes with the commitment of 2027 running back Lee Prince Jr. out of Miami (Fla.) Carol City High School.
“Success starts at the top… and how Coach Rich Rod runs his program, it’s bigger than football—it’s family! That’s the type of environment I’m ready to step into and represent!”, Prince Jr. said.
Prince, 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, brings a dynamic combination of speed and production that has quickly made him one of the more intriguing young backs in the Southeast. As a junior, he recorded 63 carries for 765 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, showcasing big-play ability with an average of over 12 yards per carry.
His track background further highlights the elite athletic traits that translate to the football field. Prince captured the 2024 Class 4A state championship in the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 10.59 seconds, underlining the breakaway speed that makes him a threat to score from anywhere.
The Miami native held scholarship offers from a number of major programs, including UCF, Florida State, Auburn, Oregon, Kentucky, Boston College, Pittsburgh, SMU, Georgia Tech and Purdue before ultimately choosing the Mountaineers.
Prince’s commitment gives West Virginia another versatile offensive weapon with the ability to impact the game both between the tackles and on the perimeter. With his blend of acceleration, vision and breakaway speed, he represents an important early addition as the Mountaineers continue to build the 2027 class.
