West Virginia running back Clay Ash to enter transfer portal
West Virginia sophomore running back Clay Ash is expected to enter the transfer portal Jan. 2.
The news was reported by Chris Hummer citing his representation Joe Sanfilippo but Ash retweeted the report on his social media account.
Ash then posted his own graphic announcing the news.
“I am not closing the door on WVU and will always be grateful for the chance to be a Mountaineer. That said, I will be expanding my opportunities and will be exploring the transfer portal when the window opens,” Ash wrote.
Ash spent two seasons at West Virginia and saw his most extensive time this past season in the backfield where he accounted for a combined 190 yards and started two games.
Ash would have two years of eligibility remaining.
The transfer portal is set to open Jan 2-16.
