How former Mountaineers performed in NFL Week 15
In the NFL’s Week 15 slate of games, eight former Mountaineers saw game action while one notable alumnus was inactive with an injury. One of the long snappers saw the best performance on his unit, while a wide receiver ignited a game-winning field goal.
Here’s a look at how everyone performed and was graded by PFF.
Around the league
Rex Sunahara, LS
Sunahara made his fifth tackle of the season, en route to being the highest-graded special teams player on his team at 80.5. He was called upon to snap for seven counts and a kick attempt in the Cleveland Browns’ 31-3 loss against the Chicago Bears.
Frazier allowed his first quarterback pressure in the last two weeks, while still maintaining his second-highest grade of the season at 75.9. He was graded most effective in the run game at 75.3, leading the charge for 135 rushing yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 28-15 win against the Miami Dolphins.
McKivitz recovered from a rough outing last week, turning in a grade of 71.1 in the San Francisco 49ers ‘ 37-24 win against the Tennessee Titans. He allowed on quarterback pressure, leading to a hurry, docking his grade.
Wyatt Milum, G
Milum had his most productive grade of the season at 70.2 in 11 snaps. Of the snaps, he saw 10 run plays and a passing down. He lined up eight times at left guard and three times as an inline tight end in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 48-20 victory against the New York Jets.
For the third consecutive week, Silla accumulated a season-high grade at 68.6 and snap-count, 67. He saw 47 snaps in the passing scheme and 19 in run protection. He was targeted 10 times, grabbing six catches for 78 yards, all season-highs. Sills came up huge to set up the game-winning field goal, as quarterback Kirk Cousins found him on 4th-and-14 with 44 seconds remaining in the game.
Austin Brinkman, LS
The Houston Texans did not need to punt much in their 40-20 victory against the Arizona Cardinals, as Brinkman played in 10 snaps, with nine kick attempts and a punt. He saw a 64.9 grade.
After a season-high 48 snap count last week, Stills returned to his typical production in the mid-20s at 27 total plays. He saw 19 run plays and eight passing downs, forcing one quarterback hurry, without a tackle for the Cardinals.
Rasul Douglas, CB 53
Douglas struggled to bring opponents down in the Dolphins’ defeat, making five tackles but missing two. He was targeted three times, allowing only one catch for seven yards.
Geno Smith, QB
Due to a shoulder injury suffered in Week 14, Smith was inactive for the Las Vegas Raiders this week. Smith has struggled this season, throwing for 2,648 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions as the Raiders sit at 2-12.
