CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Virginia High School League announces its 2026 Class 5 All-State Boys Basketball Team. Norview senior guard Keon Mitchell is the Class 5 Player of the Year, and Norview Head Coach Ricardo Foster is the Class 5 Coach of the Year.

The 6’2″ Mitchell averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6 assists per game this season, leading the Pilots to the state championship. As a sophomore, he earned Second Team All-State honors and saved his best for the big moments. In the State Finals against defending Champion Green Run, he led all scorers with 19 points, collected 9 rebounds, and posted a game-high four assists along with three steals.

During the season, Mitchell scored 30 or more points in six games, including a season-high 40 points against the Patriots.

After falling in the regional quarterfinals or semifinals in each of the previous four years, Ricardo Foster’s Norview Pilots went on to win the Region 5B title as well as the 2025-26 VHSL Class 5 crown (Photo by Matthew Hatfield of VirginiaPreps.com)

Foster guided the Pilots to a 25-2 record and the school’s second state title, defeating Green Run, 58-55, at the VCU Siegel Center. Foster has built a winning program at Norview, producing two State Championships (2020, 2025) and a 157-71 career record.

Only those players selected to All-Region First Teams are eligible for selection to the All-State Team. Each All-State selection committee comprises eight basketball coaches (2 from each Region).
