UConn Football lands Fresno State transfer DB Jayden Davis
The UConn football staff successfully landed a third transfer portal commitment on the day after connecting with a Mountain West veteran. Fresno State redshirt junior defensive back Jayden Davis announced he would commit to the Huskies after visiting with the coaching staff.
Davis is a 6-foot-1, 192-pound defensive back from Bullard (CA) who originally was a three-star wide receiver in the 2022 class. With experience playing defensive back, many programs that were interested wanted Davis to play defense.
The recruit held offers from Fresno State, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, and Sacramento State out of high school. Davis ultimately signed with the Bulldogs, who were the most notable program interested in the recruit.
Davis was recruited to play as a defensive back for the Bulldogs. The defender recorded a tackle in 2022 as a true freshman before ultimately redshirting the rest of the season. Davis played in eight games in 2023, primarily on special teams, recording three tackles on the year.
In 2024, Davis started ten games for the Bulldogs while appearing in 13 during the season. The defensive back recorded 49 tackles, two pass defenses, and an interception. Davis recorded six solo tackles (seven total tackles) against a ranked UNLV team while taking over the starting role.
During the 2025 season the defensive back 34 tackles, a sack, and an interception while playing in ten games.
UConn pass game coordinator and corner backs coach Rod Chance is no stranger to Davis. The former Oregon State co-defensive coordinator played against Fresno State in 2025, losing 36-27 to the Bulldogs. Davis will join the Huskies with one year of eligibility remaining after spending the last four years with Fresno State.
