UConn Football lands Florida Atlantic transfer DB Zion Paret
The UConn football staff landed another commitment out of the transfer portal in the secondary that should provide much needed depth.
Florida Atlantic transfer defensive back Zion Paret announced his commitment to UConn after previously entering the portal in search of a new home. Paret spent his lone collegiate season in 2025 with the Owls before opting to test his luck in the transfer portal.
The talented defensive back was originally a three-star recruit and the 149th cornerback overall in the 2025 recruiting class. The defender was rated the 216th overall recruit in the state of Florida. Paret spent time in high school with North Florida Christian and Miami Northwestern. The defensive back graduated from Miami Central, spending just his senior year with the school.
Coming out of high school, Paret held offers from programs like Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Nebraska, and Oregon. The defensive back had heavily considered FIU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Liberty, Oregon, UCF, and USF before signing with Florida Atlantic.
During his true freshman season in 2025, the defensive back recorded 16 total tackles for the Owls. Paret had a season-high four tackles against East Carolina to close out the season. The defensive back also played against UConn in the thrilling 48-45 game but did not record a statistic.
Paret will also join fellow UConn portal commitments Tracy Revels (Michigan State), Steve Miller (USC), Jayden Davis (Fresno State), Renick Dorilas (Rutgers), CJ Bell (Iowa), Moussa Kane (Duke), Braedyn Moore (Toledo), and Jayden Price (Toledo) in the secondary. The Huskies will have virtually a brand new roster in the secondary heading into the 2026 season under Coach Jason Candle.
The Florida native will transfer to UConn with three years of eligibility remaining having played too many games in 2025 to preserve a redshirt.
