Iowa Western (C.C.) rising junior Andy Burburija has announced his commitment to Clemson, flipping his pledge from Nebraska, On3’s Pete Nakos reported late Monday afternoon.

Burburija (6-2, 295) picked the Cornhuskers over Clemson after taking visits to both.

Penn State, Michigan State, Auburn, Iowa State and Arkansas had also offered.

The Crystal Lake, Ill., native, signed with Kansas State but was released from his letter of intent Dec. 29 following its coaching change.

Clemson drew his first official visit leading into last weekend, at which point a source close to the prospect told Tigerillustrated.com that the Tigers were believed the leader.

Burburija stands to become the Tigers’ first signee from the junior college ranks since Coffeyville (Kan.) safety Chris Russell, an original four-star Colorado signee, in the 2006 class.

He is slated to be a summer enrollee, per our info.

On3 rated him as the No. 97 overall prospect in the junior college rankings.

He technically becomes the 21st member of Clemson’s recruiting class.

The Tigers have also signed Oklahoma rising redshirt junior Markus Strong and West Georgia rising redshirt sophomore Kourtney Kelly this month as more immediate roster remedies to talent shortcomings magnified by the departure of LSU-bound Stephiylan Green.
