Maryland transfer defensive back Kevyn Humes has flipped his commitment from Boston College to Rutgers, sources confirm to The Knight Report. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Scarlet Knights.

Humes previously committed to the Eagles on Jan. 7th, but he did not sign any official paperwork and opted for Rutgers instead over interest from Cal, Georgia Tech, UCF and some others.

Listed at 6-foot and 185-pounds, Humes appeared in 19 games (2 starts) over two seasons and logged 28 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and one pass breakup. According to PFF, he logged 330 snaps this past season and 271 of those were in the slot. During that time he was targeted 29 times, while allowing 23 receptions for 169 yards, and one touchdown.

Prior to his time at Maryland, the Baltimore native attended the Bullis School early on in his school career before eventually transferring to St. Frances Academy, where he was ranked the No. 138 overall prospect in the country and the No. 19 overall cornerback per Rivals.

Humes is Rutgers 13th transfer commitment and the third cornerback, joining former Citadel defensive back Bradlee Jones and Villanova defensive back Zahmir Dawud.
