Here’s a look at the latest Pitt and WPIAL football recruiting news presented in the Frank Walker Law Recruiting Notebook.

*Pitt has extended an offer to 2027 4-star running back Aiden Gibson from Woodruff, South Carolina. Woodruff (6’1″, 200-pounds) is rated by On3 as one of the Top 20 running backs in the country.

Gibson holds Power 4 offers from South Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, NC State, Indiana, Cincinnati, Louisville, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Maryland and Central Florida.

Gibson has scheduled official visits to Penn State, Virginia Tech and South Carolina.

*Former Gateway and Pitt running back Derrick Davis made a visit over the weekend to Western Carolina. The HC at Western Carolina is Kerwin Bell, the father of Pitt OC Kade Bell. Davis entered the transfer portal following last season. Davis is fully healthy after injuring his knee two seasons ago at Pitt.

*Former Pitt guard Dior Johnson has entered the NCAA transfer portal following an excellent season at Tarlenton State. Johnson was the second leading scorer in the country last season as he averaged 24 points per game in 26 minutes per game.

*Following a visit two weeks ago to Georgia, Central Catholic 2027 4-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis made an unofficial visit to yesterday to another big-time program. Kalis was in Columbus visiting the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Ohio State is one of the six finalists for Kalis: Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, Clemson, Texas and LSU.

*Avonworth 2028 4-star athlete Jaden Jones made an unofficial visit on Tuesday to Maryland. Jones (6’3″, 180-pounds) currently holds Power 4 offers from Maryland, Pitt, Penn State, Kentucky, West Virginia, NC State and Syracuse.
