Pitt Running Back Juelz Goff to Enter Transfer Portal
An important piece of Pitt football’s running back room in Juelz Goff is hitting the transfer portal.
Goff, a redshirt freshman, announced via X that he is entering the portal once it opens on Jan. 2 with three years of eligibility remaining.
Goff was a promising young name for the Pitt offense as a true freshman in 2024. While he maintained his redshirt, Goff appeared in three games and recorded 18 carries for 46 yards to go along with six receptions and 53 yards with a bulk of his action coming in the GameAbove Bowl against Toledo.
Entering 2025, Goff was expected to be an instrumental piece of Pitt’s ground game. The 5-9, 195-pounder received a minimum of six touches through the first five games and a career-high 17 attempts before seeing his usage drop.
With a healthy Desmond Reid and the emergence of true freshman Ja’Kyrian Turner, Goff became the third running back in the pecking order.
Goff finished with 270 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 69 carries to go along with 93 receiving yards on 12 receptions.
Coming out of Central York High School, Goff was a three-star prospect and a consensus top-70 running back in the 2023 class. He held additional offers from Duke, Rutgers, Boston College and more. In the portal, Goff will be an attractive back that possesses a blend of size and speed.
As for the Panthers’ current running back room, Reid looks to return and play in the Military Bowl against East Carolina to wrap up his Pitt career.
Turner (freshman), Jaylin Brown (freshman), Synkwan Smith (freshman), Justin Cook (walk-on senior), Caleb Williams (walk-on redshirt sophomore) and Damon Ferguson (incoming freshman) are all potential returnees for next season. Derrick Davis Jr., who missed the entire season with an injury, may attempt for a sixth-year with a medical waiver.
Along with Goff, wide receivers Jesse Anderson and Zion Fowler-El, offensive lineman Jackson Brown and long snapper Nico Crawford have all made their intentions known to enter the portal.
