Former Pitt K Ben Sauls to Get Shot with NY Giants
After being on practice squads with the Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers, Ben Sauls is getting his first real shot in the NFL.
Following the release of Younghoe Koe, Saul was elevated from the NY Giants practice squad and placed on their 53-man roster.
Sauls joined the Giants organization back on November 11 as he was signed to their practice squad.
Sauls will be the 4th kicker the Giants have used this season and 8th in the last 3 seasons. In other words, their kicking situation has been a nightmare.
During his 5 years at Pitt, the left-footed kicker was 52 of 64, including a 58-yarder against California, which tied the stadium record for a Pitt kicker.
Sauls will be the Giants first left-footed kicker since Morten Anderson in 2001.
Sauls went to training camp with the Steelers and went 4-4 in the final game against Carolina, connecting on kicks from 38, 50, 49 and 28-yards.
