Today, NMPreps releases its Week 4 New Mexico high school boys basketball rankings for the December 15–20 window. As always, our rankings track week-to-week movement with a strong emphasis on what have you done lately, particularly results from the previous week.

This week brings another new No. 1 in Class 5A, as La Cueva surges to the top behind a perfect 6–0 start. Cleveland and Volcano Vista slide into the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, both teams La Cueva has defeated over the past two weeks. Volcano Vista opened the season ranked No. 1 in Weeks 1 and 2, while Cleveland held the top spot in Week 3.

Elsewhere in 5A, Las Cruces continues its steady climb after a 3–0 showing at the Hub City Tournament in Belen, capped by a championship win. Mayfield remains a team to watch after going 3–0 to win the Joe Armijo Tournament at Albuquerque Academy. Centennial also makes a significant jump into the top 10, rising to No. 8 following a statement win over Sandia at the same tournament.
