Missouri suffered another loss to its wide receiver room with the expected departure of Marquis Johnson, a source confirmed to MizzouToday.

The junior, who started seven of the 12 regular-season games in 2025, announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal, which opens Jan. 2. Johnson totaled 28 receptions for 340 yards and two touchdowns while also returning three kickoffs — all against Arkansas in Week 14 — for 71 total yards.

In Week 1 against Central Arkansas, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout logged a career-high 134 yards on five receptions. The speedy pass-catcher recorded his final grab of the season Oct. 25 against Vanderbilt. Freshman Donovan Olugbode took over as a starter late in the back half of the season.

During his freshman season in 2023, Johnson emerged as a serious deep threat for quarterback Brady Cook. In 13 games, he posted a career-high 383 receiving yards and three touchdowns, averaging 29.5 yards per reception.

While missing the 2024 homecoming game against Auburn due to injury, Johnson played in 12 games as a sophomore. He started against Oklahoma in early November before the Music City Bowl against Iowa the following month, breaking out with 122 yards and one touchdown.

Johnson joined junior safety Caleb Flagg, junior wide receiver Joshua Manning, redshirt freshman wide receiver James Madison II and freshmen running backs Marquise Davis and Brendon Haygood as Tigers planning to transfer. Flagg left the program in September, while Madison, Davis and Haygood announced their respective decisions this month.

The Missouri legacy, whose father, Domonique Johnson, played for the Tigers in the early 2000s, will have one year of eligibility remaining. In the 2023 class, the younger Johnson ranked a four-star as the No. 216 prospect in the On300.
