Tigers in the NFL: Harrison Mevis goes perfect in NFC Championship Game for Rams
While finishing his first NFL season in the NFC Championship Game, Harrison Mevis still couldn’t miss.
The Rams kicker kept his perfect postseason stretch alive in a 31-27 loss to the Seahawks. Mevis nailed both of his field goals, sinking a long from 50 yards in the second quarter. His first attempt was good from 44 yards in the opening period.
The former Missouri specialist also tallied three extra points in the hostile road environment of Seattle. In the playoffs, Mevis made all six of his field goals and nine extra points for 27 points. In the regular season, the Warsaw (Ind.) Community missed one kick. It coincidentally came Dec. 18 at Seattle.
Seahawks backup quarterback Drew Lock will represent Missouri for the NFC in the Super Bowl.
How former Tigers performed in the AFC Championship Game
As snow compiled late into the third quarter in Denver, Missouri didn’t have much representation from the Broncos and Patriots. Cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine recorded a solo tackle on special teams, and running back Tyler Badie returned a kickoff for 20 yards and rushed for four more on his lone carry.
New England advanced to the Super Bowl in a 10-7 win. Rookie and backup offensive tackle Marcus Bryant will represent Missouri in the AFC, with fellow offensive lineman Yasir Durant also with the Patriots on injured reserve.
