Breaking down UK's latest football offers
Commitments are started to stack up and plenty of 2027 prospects who have been on the radar are moving towards a decision. But new targets are still emerging and will continue to throughout the year.
Here’s a look at the latest batch of offers the Kentucky coaches sent out over the past day with basic information about each new target.
Kentucky continues to target the nation’s top tight end recruits from various classes and 2028 prospect J.C. Wessel is the newest target for position coach Justin Burke. Wessel is taller than 6’6 and checks in at 227 pounds. Rivals rates him a four-star (90) prospect and the Saint Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy prospect is the No. 4 player in Georgia.
Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Ohio State are just some of the other schools that have offered. Ohio State just offered during a visit and Wessel has said he will probably return for a summer camp. But he’s “wide open” for now.
Orange Beach, Ala., tight end Lee Steele is another new target at the same position and the same class as Wessel. He’s also 6’6 but leaner at 210 pounds and Rivals rates him as the No. 13 tight end in the 2027 class.
Steele has a very impressive offer list that includes Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn, among others.
Wide receiver Keith Nolen is another 2028 prospect to land an offer from Kentucky in the past couple of days. The 6’0, 185-pound prospect from Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge is a four-star (86.56) in the Rivals Industry Ranking and the No. 2 player in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Rivals rates him the No. 52 receiver in the class so there is some ranking disparity.
His offer list is heavier on ACC and regional schools like Virginia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, Duke, and Tennessee. The Hokies currently lead in the RPM and Nolen’s last spring visit was to Blacksburg.
Class of 2028 cornerback Za’khari Greene now has a Kentucky offer, too. The rangy 6’2, 160-pound corner from Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian Academy has offers from Florida State, Syracuse, Tulane, and several others. He performed well at a YAA Orlando showcase at the end of last year.
Ezarian Fields is a 2029 defensive end (6’5, 210) prospect who announced on Tuesday that Kentucky had given him his first power conference offer. That offer came following a conversation with Joe Price III.
There have been recent 2027 offers, including one to Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson defensive lineman Wesley Gover. Gover has a unique and nationwide offer list that includes Georgia Tech, Cal, Wake Forest, Baylor, Cincinnati, and Arkansas. That kind of list just shows how national college football recruiting has become. Gover recently took a cross-country unofficial visit to Cal so proximity doesn’t seem like a huge factor.
Arnold Mugerwa is the other 2027 prospect to land a Kentucky offer since the last update at KSR+. The Johnstown (Pa.) Richland safety has tremendous size at 6’3, 197 pounds and he looks like one of the better defensive prospects in the Keystone State. Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Pitt, Duke, Texas A&M, NC State, Michigan State, and Syracuse are some of his other offers.
