Minnesota offers 2026 LB Keian Kaiser following Iowa State decommitment
For the second time this month, the Minnesota Golden Gophers coaching staff has offered an Iowa State decommitment.
On Saturday, the Gophers extended an offer to Sidney (NE) linebacker Keian Kaiser, who earlier this week backed off his signing with the Iowa State Cyclones.
“After a lot of thought, prayer, and conversations with my family, I have decided to decommit from Iowa State University and reopen my recruitment due to recent coaching changes,” Kaiser announced on Monday.
“I want to sincerely thank Coach Campbell and his Iowa State staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I have been released from my commitment, and my recruitment is now open.”
Kaiser, in his recruitment, also held offers from Wyoming and Lindenwood University. California, Northern Illinois, Nebraska, and North Dakota State all showed interest but did not extend offers.
This fall, Kaiser recorded 111 tackles, including 39 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also had two interceptions. A two-way star for Sidney, he also had 183 rushing yards and 592 receiving yards to go with 12 touchdowns while leading Sidney to a 12-1 record and finishing as state runners-up.
Earlier this month, the Golden Gophers signed a 31-player recruiting class, which currently ranks 32nd in the Rivals team recruiting rankings and ninth in the Big Ten. The Gophers signed a pair of lienbackers in Hudson Dunn (Liberty, AZ) and Angel Luciano (Steelton-Highspire, PA).
