UConn big man Tarris Reed out vs. Kansas
UConn big man Tarris Reed Jr. will be out tonight with his ankle injury against Kansas, per release.
“Tarris remains game-to-game and is out tonight,” the release said.
Reed, the 6-10 veteran big man, hurt his ankle late in the game vs. BYU on Nov. 15. Hurley said after the Arizona game, where Reed did not play, that the big man sprained his ankle.
The center returned to action against Illinois, but played just 15 minutes and scored two points. Hurley told reporters on Monday Reed would be a game-time decision for Tuesday. He’s now officially ruled out.
Reed has averaged 15.5 points and 8.3 rebounds this season while shooting 67.6% from the field. Freshman big man Eric Reibe will have to step up once against to contain Kansas star sophomore big man Flory Bidunga.
UConn freshman guard Braylon Mullins, who had also been dealing with an ankle sprain and returned against Illinois, will play tonight and is expected to see more minutes. Kansas is without star freshman guard Darryn Peterson.
