North Carolina's Luka Bogavac cleared by school, will play in opener
North Carolina fans can rest easy.
The Tar Heels’ international pickup of the offseason, Luka Bogavac, has been cleared by the University and will play against Central Arkansas, a source told On3.
Bogavac, 22, had already been cleared by the NCAA, but North Carolina still had to complete its own internal review of his international transcripts, which was a complex process that required third-party verification and multiple revisions before he could officially be ruled eligible to play.
That’s now behind the 6-6 guard from Montenegro, who’s expected to have a big role in North Carolina’s backcourt. Over the past two seasons, Bogavac has played in 55 games for SC Derby Podgorica in the AdmiralBet ABA League. Last season, he averaged 14.9 points and was 61-for-153 (39.9%) from range.
Bogavac’s mother, Bozana Zindovic-Bogavac, will be in attendence, visiting from Montenegro. More information can be found here.
