The injury bug has once again hit the Kentucky Wildcats.

Sophomore forward Kam Williams limped off the court with around 18 minutes left in Kentucky’s 85-80 win over Texas on Wednesday night and didn’t return. Head coach Mark Pope had some bad news postgame.

“Kam’s foot is broken,” Pope said. “So he’ll be out. He’s just a beautiful kid. I thought he actually made some special plays tonight. So we’re going to get him back healthy as soon as we possibly can, but he’ll be out for a while. It’s certainly a blow to us.”

The Wildcats have already lost Jaland Lowe for the season due to a should injury, and Jayden Quaintance hasn’t played since Jan. 7 against Missouri due to knee swelling. Add Williams to the list.

The sophomore forward has averaged 6.8 points and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 34.3% from 3-point range this season. He plays 20.2 minutes off the bench and is a key floor spacer for Pope.

Kentucky (13-6, 4-2 SEC) has won four-straight games and will look to keep the momentum going even with a banged up group. The Wildcats close out January vs. Ole Miss (Jan. 24), at Vanderbilt (Jan. 27) and at Arkansas (Jan. 31).
