The Field of 68 will unveil a series through January in which we’ll rank the jobs in every league from top to bottom – and will do it by anonymously polling veteran coaches (head coaches and assistants) in each conference.

There are no specific parameters. Each coach was able to utilize their own specific parameters to determine their list from top to bottom.

However, while recruiting base and facilities were a major factor when I did a similar exercise in 2018, now it’s obviously financial resources (NIL) that are paramount.

Here’s the daily order thus far:

CAA JOB RANKINGS:

1. Charleston – 208 (16)
2. UNCW – 188
3. Hofstra – 168
4. Towson – 152
5. Elon – 134
6. Monmouth – 124
7. William & Mary – 108
8. Drexel – 92
9. Campbell – 82
10. Stony Brook – 74
11. Northeastern – 60
12. Hampton – 46
13. NC A&T – 20

WHY IS CHARLESTON NO. 1?

“More resources than anyone else in the league, winning tradition and the city is elite. Also really good athletic director.”

“They have more than double the funding than the next closest team, great fan base, great city and awesome facilities.  It would be a very good big east job. In the CAA it’s elite.”

WHY IS UNCW NO. 2?

“With an administration fully committed to investing in NIL, a built in and enthusiastic fan base, and a location and school recruits genuinely want to be in, UNCW offers a true high-major feel at the top mid major level. it stands clearly as one of the top two jobs in the league.”

WHY ARE CHARLESTON AND UNCW CLEARLY NO. 1 AND 2?

“Charleston and UNCW are way ahead of everyone else. Both have major league NIL money play an insane amount of home games for this level (buy games) and have amazing tradition fan bases and they are the only schools in this conference where coaches have jumped to bigger jobs.”

WHY IS HOFSTRA TOP 3?

“No football is key and a big budget. Great tradition and have an outstanding backyard to recruit from. They have always had a supportive administration that invests in basketball.”
