Kansas guard Jayden Dawson is unlikely to play against Syracuse on Tuesday, head coach Bill Self said in a pregame interview. Yesterday, Dawson hurt his right wrist dunking in pregame warmups but played a limited five minutes vs. Notre Dame.

“I think he’s doubtful,” Self said. “Now could he play? Maybe. We’ll see. But his hand is sore. He told me it’s pretty stiff. So I don’t think he’ll probably be available.”

The Jayhawks are already shorthanded with star freshman guard Darryn Peterson ruled out for the entirety of the Players Era Festival. Dawson has averaged 4.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists for Kansas off the bench this season and had played 20+ minutes in Kansas’ three games before Vegas.

Dawson did not warm up and is in street clothes pregame with his wrist wrapped.

Tipoff against Syracuse is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. If Kansas wins, it’ll have a good shot at playing in either the championship or third place game.
