Scouting Journals for Will Mencl

Will Mencl Scouting Summary

Charles Power

3/13/26

Hyper-accurate passer who looks like one of the more well-rounded quarterback prospects in the 2027 cycle. Measured in at around 6-foot-3, 205 pounds with 10-inch hands prior to his senior season. Turned in a strong finish to his junior season, completing over 70% of his passes for 3,815 yards and 33 touchdowns against five interceptions while leading his team to a state title berth. Touts smooth mechanics. A high-level processor who is able to locate open receivers and read defender leverage. Made tough throws over the middle of the field as a junior. Also proved to be a dangerous run threat on designed keepers, rushing for 741 yards and 17 scores. Turned in the best showing from a quarterback on the national all-star circuit at the Navy All-American Bowl prior to his senior season. Will need to continue gaining key in-game experience throughout the rest of his high school career. Arm strength is good but not overwhelming at this stage. Well-rounded overall skillset makes him one of the more high-floor quarterback prospects in the 2027 class.

Will Mencl adds 5th star from Rivals

2/16/26

The emergence of Will Mencl (No. 4) has added clarity to the top of a 2027 quarterback group that lacked clear top prospects at the position in the early stages of the cycle, adding a fifth star and making a huge move inside the top five of the Rivals300. Mencl touts a well-rounded skill set and appears to be the surest bet of the quarterback group, based on our exposure to this point. He had a breakout junior season at Chandler (Ariz.) High, completing 70.3 percent of his passes, while accounting for 4,556 total yards and 50 touchdowns against five interceptions. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds with a hand size over 10 inches and good athleticism, Mencl pairs physical talent with a quick processor and high-end accuracy. He showed the ability to make tough small-window throws in meaningful playoff games as a junior and adds value as a run threat. Mencl backed up the strong junior season with a great showing at the Navy All-American Bowl, where he showed no issues adjusting to the high level of competition and looked like the best quarterback prospect we saw at any of the national all-star games.
