While Vernell Brown III is proud of his accomplishments on the football field, he's also just as proud of what he's done off of it. "When I’m in school, I’m in school," Brown told Fox 35. "I don’t think about football. But when school’s over, then it’s time for football." That focus on academics paid off with a 4.91 grade-point average and straight A's throughout his high school career. "He’s a young man that you never have to question. Never look to see is it his, is he going to do what he’s supposed to do," Jones coach Elijah Williams said. "He’s the type that any coach would want 10 of them. You got 10 of him, you’re going to win a lot of games." During the 2023 season, Brown racked up 70 receptions for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns. "He's electric with the ball," Williams said. "He's the type of player you find ways to get his touches. He can take over a game."
