Vanderbilt adds playmaking Texas defensive back Jeremy Garner to 2026 class
Iowa Colony (Texas) safety Jeremy Garner has flipped his commitment from San Diego State to Vanderbilt.
The 5-foot-11 Garner and his 10.8 speed in the 100m dash visited Nashville over the weekend. It was a trip highlighted by the Commodores victory over Missouri.
“What made Vandy the place for me is the great coaching staff they have,” Garner said. “All of these coaches were former NFL players. So to get coached by them will definitely be an honor.
“My favorite thing about this program is how great the brotherhood is and how dedicated each player is to building this team into one big powerhouse.”
As a junior Garner picked off five passes and deflected 12 more. He hasn’t been challenged much as a senior.
Garner becomes commit No. 21 for head coach Clark Lea and the Commodores in the 2026 class. He spoke highly of his weekend official visit.

“The environment was crazy at Vandy this past weekend,” Garner said. “SEC atmosphere is something special for real.
“The main thing that’s excites me to want to play under Coach Lea is that he is a family-oriented coach. Which leads down through the whole coaching staff which is something you need to be successful. This is why Vanderbilt is going into the right direction.”
Garner has spoken highly of Vanderbilt since the offer came earlier this month and how he’s in the fold.
“The most important thing that excites me is the brotherhood they are building and how this program has came a long way from where it was a couple of years ago,” Garner said.
